New year, new theme, same mission.

We want to show people that some parking stalls are better served for people and the environment rather than a car. This temporary (pop-up) installation of a created “place” or “garden” offers a creative solution to mitigating the Urban Heat Island effect, lack of public space, and fostering the native flora and fauna on a small, parking stall-sized space.

Theme: Therapeutic Spaces and Native Plants

We are looking for materials to use for the day or keep!

Material list:

  • Leftover artificial turf or alternative outdoor-rated colorful flooring

  • Plants

  • Planters

  • Lightweight site furnishings

  • Outdoor games (cornhole, etc.)

There is more to the story….and it is gaining traction.

There is something called Parking Reform. It is a source of information and legislation for anyone interested in advocating for reducing the oversupply of parking stalls.

There are other ways to take over a space and make it people-friendly, with the help of a CNC machine!
